My Shopping Buddy

For the past four years I’ve been blessed with the chance to make weekly grocery trips to Sam’s Club with my little guy, Blaise – first as a newborn, now as a four year old! 🤩

It adds more time to each trip and it’s sometimes a bit of a challenge (mainly on those negative 20 degree winter mornings!), but it’s usually a ton of fun and a great chance for father/son bonding.

For instance, sometimes we’re superheroes and we have to escape The Green Goblin who is throwing fire pumpkins at us from the top of the shelves. 🔥🎃

Or in the winter there’s a football arcade game that gets put on display and we stop and spend half the morning playing it. 🏈

And just lately there’s been a beeping robot scanner in the store that drives around “looking for us”, causing us to duck and hide and sneak all around while we grab our supplies. 🤖

Oh, and we also hang out with our favorite employee, Don (shout out!). He knows us by name and likes to joke with us whenever we come. 😁

And then sometimes, just for the fun of it, we head to Menards (my favorite store) after our grocery run.

We spend most of our time riding the escalator, watching the forklifts in the lumbar yard, and exploring the toy section (where on occasion Blaise gets his wish and gets to bring home a new car! 😊).

All in all, it’s been a gift to spend these Monday mornings with my little guy. It’s our little routine. Our special bonding time. Time that I’m going to keep soaking up until he’s a full time kindergartener and I’ll have to start grocery shopping on my own… 🥺☺️

Thank you, God, for my little Blaise-man and these times we get to have together. 😇🙏
