I had another fun (and wet, muddy, and exhausting! 🤪) time taking on the Rugged Maniac course in Taylors Falls, Minnesota this past weekend.
This was my 5th time completing this challenge: A 5K (3.1 mile) race up and down the hills of a ski resort (Wild Mountain), interspersed with over 20 obstacles along the way.
The obstacles are mostly fun and manageable (crawling under barbed wire, traversing monkey bars, jumping over fire, etc.), but it’s the hills that always get me.
While Minnesota can’t really claim to have “mountains”, the elevation climbs on this course always do an amazing job of both cranking up my heart rate and completely humbling me. No matter how hard I train for these hills, they tend to challenge me the most on this course.
But hey, that’s one of the attractions of Rugged Maniac – it’s a test that gets you out of your comfort zone, demands maximum effort at times, and leaves you soaked, covered in mud, and with a smile on your face!
It’s a truly awesome event. 🤠
So, if you ever get the chance to do a Rugged Maniac, Spartan Race, or something similar, I’d HIGHLY suggest going for it. You’ll feel like a champ for doing so! 👍 💪
