I feel like these two pictures encapsulate my 2024 CrossFit Open experience quite well…

At the start of the 3 weeks I was as excited as can be (with a pinch of nervousness, let’s be honest 😉). I felt strong, fit, and “ready enough” for whatever workouts would come my way. 💪💪
But then 24.1 happened. 😳

Holy cow. This workout was a true, 5-star humbler for me…
I pushed as hard as I could but hit the 15-minute time cap with 6 burpees left to go. I was exhausted, disappointed, and feeling pretty unfulfilled (only 6 burpees more and I at least would have finished!).
Truth be told, it took me a day or two to give myself grace and mentally move along with some pep in my step and peace in my heart. But, I got there. Eventually. 🙃
So, I turned my eyes and recalibrated mind to the next two weeks of the Open – only to be hit by a massive cold one week and a bout of food poisoning the next! 🤪🤪
The ultimate bummer wasn’t so much being sick, but missing out on the chance to be with everyone else doing the workouts (there’s just something really special about doing the Open all together… ☺️).

CrossFit Open 24.3 taking place at Tangletown CrossFit (without me 😥)
Regardless, I was able to get the workouts in eventually and THANKFULLY they didn’t crush me nearly as much (physically OR emotionally!) as 24.1 did. 😆 However, they didn’t leave me completely satisfied, either…
And that’s the fun of the Open, right? It’s a chance to showcase the progress you’ve made through all of last year’s hard work – while simultaneously being shown all the work you still have left to do. 🙃
So, here we go… another year of prioritizing health, pushing to my potential, and having fun with fitness! 🙌
In the words of CrossFit athlete Noah Ohlsen, “I’m happy, but hungry”. 😃
Let’s go!!
